On March 7, 2025, our school held the Foreign Faculty General Assembly for the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year. Centered around the theme “Trust and Confidence,” the meeting comprehensively reviewed the accomplishments of the foreign faculty. Simultaneously, it sketched out a detailed blueprint for future development.Upholding our management philosophy of “harmony in diversity,” and with the collaborative support of school leadership, academic divisions, and administrative departments, the foreign faculty team has developed a stronger sense of cohesion, professional belonging, and teaching confidence, demonstrating the vitality of an international education community.
Session One: New Faculty Induction Ceremony
This semester, our foreign faculty team continues to grow, with William, a Canadian educator, joining the high school division. Having years of experience in education and a deep passion for Chinese culture, William has embarked on a new teaching journey at 21st Century School. The entire faculty gave a warm welcome to their new colleagues with resounding applause, reflecting the school’s inclusive and globally-minded atmosphere.
Session Two: Faculty Satisfaction Survey & Administrative Support Optimization
Ms. Guo Yu, Director of Human Resources, presented a systematic report on the foreign faculty satisfaction survey, addressing crucial service domains such as academic calendar adjustments, salary calculations, handbook revisions, and emergency contact mechanisms.
This session also welcomed two special guests—directors from the Information Center and General Affairs Office—who have been working diligently behind the scenes to support our foreign faculty.
? Mr. Gu Lixin, the Director of the Information Center, engaged in a lively discussion with foreign teachers in English, emphasizing that language should never be a barrier and reaffirming the team’s commitment to promptly resolving issues regarding campus networks and audiovisual equipment.
? Mr. Wang Lijun, the Director of General Affairs, provided an overview of enhancements in faculty housing, dining services, and maintenance request procedures, demonstrating the school’s dedication to thoughtful and efficient logistical support.
“Administrative services are like air—unseen but indispensable.” Our support departments will continue to serve as a reliable backbone for the foreign faculty, ensuring seamless operations and an optimal teaching environment.
Session Three: Academic Division Strategic Planning
Elementary School Division – Priorities by Supervisor John:
1. Strengthening the “teaching-to-learning” transition by means of regular lesson observations and peer feedback.
2. Refining the Foreign Faculty Handbook to improve its practicality and accuracy.
3. Establishing a STEAM program brand to cultivate interdisciplinary skills.
Middle School Division – Dual-Track Strategy by Supervisor Eric:
1. Restructuring the curriculum to enhance both horizontal integration across subjects and vertical progression across grade levels.
2. Implementing a “One Open Class Per Month” initiative to translate research insights into high-quality model lessons.
High School Division – Goals by Supervisor Joseph:
1. Upgrading the curriculum to incorporate cutting-edge educational technologies.
2. Enhancing lesson observations to promote student-centered instruction.
3. Expanding participation in student recruitment and extracurricular programs while strengthening access to premium academic resources.
Each division’s plan aligns with the school’s overarching strategy of “shifting from teaching to learning,” highlighting the foreign faculty’s pivotal role in curriculum innovation, pedagogical improvement, and cross-cultural collaboration.
Session Four: Insights from Teaching Diagnostics
Outstanding teachers from the three academic divisions, drawing on data from the E - Smart School Diagnostic Report, shared their insights and best practices in education.
? Lira,,a teacher from the Elementary School Division,, reflected on her journey “From Novice to Friend,” vividly illustrating the essence of teaching wholeheartedly. She placed emphasis on the significance of forging emotional bonds with students via daily interactions.
? John, a teacher from the Middle School Division with years of experience, introduced his three key strategies for effective teaching: meticulous lesson planning, structured professional development, and visible pastoral care.
? Arnold, who newly joined the High School Division last semester, showcased the dynamic energy of the new generation of educators. His approach—personalized feedback and motivational assessment—earned high recognition from his students.
This session underscored the 21st Century School’s commitment to empowering its faculty, fostering a professional environment where teachers receive strong institutional support, professional growth opportunities, and a deep sense of community.
Closing: A Resonance of Trust and Confidence
As the meeting concluded, the host posed two probing questions to the entire foreign faculty team: “ Do you trust your team? Do you have confidence in the future of 21st Century School?”
“Yes!”—The response was firm and resounding, echoing a spirit of unity beyond cultural boundaries.
This assembly was not only a roadmap for the new semester but also a reaffirmation of our collective commitment. With trust as our foundation and confidence as our driving force, the foreign faculty team is ready to navigate the constantly evolving landscape of international education, forging new heights together!
